Dr. Robert E. Gorsich has been in the practice of ophthalmology in the Western suburbs of Chicago for the past 35 years. He attended medical school at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Training outside Illinois, included an internship in San Diego, California: after which he served two years in the United States Air Force as a Flight Surgeon in Valdosta, Georgia. His residency in ophthalmology was completed at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in 1968. He currently practices in Oak Brook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, which is conveniently located to Elmhurst, Naperville, Hinsdale and Lisle.
Dr. Gorsich is a founding member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, an important organization founded in 1974, now claiming over 10,000 of the finest ophthalmic surgeons worldwide as members. On a yearly basis, Dr. Gorsich participates in continuing medical education courses and symposiums throughout the country.
Dr. Gorsich is an adventurer and free spirit at heart. He's made 59 dives in the Red Sea. He brought medical supplies to the victims of the Bophal gas crisis with the assistance of Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charity. He's had 22 helicopter flights over the Hawaiian Islands making panoramic photos, he's made a documentary film about hot-air ballooning over the Austrian Alps, and has taken photos of the maiden voyage of the space shuttle Challenger which he used to raise $50,000 for the Apple Valley Science and Technology Center in California. He even perfected his own recipes of gourmet chocolate truffles, which he now markets under the name of "Chocolate Passion", www.chocolate-passion.com.
Dr. Gorsich has a true zest for life and lives it to the fullest, in both his personal and professional life.
